Wahoo!!!! Talk about answering a prayer quickly....
I just posted a prayer request two days ago. We were looking for a shadow for our son for a local Montessori school. Not only did we find a good Christian girl who is eager to learn and is a quick learner, she's affordable! Here's the amazing thing, I found her online through Craigslist. We were talking on the phone and some how got to talking about church. She shared with me what church she went to. The same one my neighbor across the street attends. She told me that she was just at my neighbors house the other night for Bible study and they all prayed over her that she would find the job that God needed her to have. Little did they know it was right across the street.
She met with Sean and his teachers at school today and everyone hit it off.
Thank you all so much for your prayers! We have found our new shadow.

Thanks so much for the prayers for Matthew's GI appointment and our trip today. I'm happy to say that it went well, I was very pleased with the doctor and though the upper/lower GI endoscopy (will be on 5/1)won't be fun, it will give us some good information and hopefully lead to relief for Matthew in his GI symptoms. We also had a safe trip and enjoyed a beautiful lunch and visit outdoors in the mountains while we were there! All in all, a blessed day. Thanks so much again, God is good!

Is your son GFCF? Wondering if that would help his inflammation if he isn't. Autistic Ds, 7yo tomorrow, also has GI problems, cont. reflux that triggers his asthma. He has been GFCF since birth due to food allergies.

Hi Melissa,
So glad you joined us! How are Aiden & Sam doing? Do you still have Laura Kay's email? Can you invite her as well?
Myself, Chrissy and Jessica were very excited to start this study. We all feel it's going to be really good for everyone, including ourselves.
So glad you're doing it with us!

I have a praise report to share! Yesterday Matthew and I traveled to a GI Dr. 3 1/2 hours away and this morning he had an upper GI scope and colonoscopy. Yesterday, he was only allowed to have clear liquids and had to fast this morning before the procedure. I was fully prepared for a day of crying and meltdowns, but didn't have ANY. He only asked for food a few times and didn't complain when he couldn't have any, even during the drive! I fully attribute this to all of the wonderful people who held him up in prayer, his behavior was extraordinary. It's like he "knew". Also, his procedure this morning was over quickly and went really well. Mostly, everything looked fine. We are waiting for lab results of tissue biopsy of one small area of concern in his esophagus and digestive enzyme results. The Dr. said that whatever the results, it should be minor and easy to treat (two very welcome words to my ears!). I have also been so exhausted from battling illness the past few weeks and managed to travel, plan and execute so much in two days. Thanks so much to God and my prayer angels!!!

Hi, Our IEP meeting went well and we are off to a good start with services for this coming preschool year. The school was very reasonable and worked hard, with us, to find just the right thing for our son. Thanks for praying with us over this. They even agreed to start up a key part of the new services this summer.

The night before wasn't so great. We had IEP stress, a child get lost, a window get stuck in the "open" position and then a horrible bug run through the house. We took that for what it was a prayed that Jesus would be with us in our "drama".

Thanks again, Heather

Heather, so glad your IEP meeting was the beginning of a positive start for your son! Very good news! With all the trials you had, the victory is even sweeter. Thanks for sharing this, I will say a prayer of thanksgiving.

I just had to take a moment this morning and praise God for this blog and for everyone who has joined it. I can't speak for everyone but I can share with you from my heart how each of your comments and each of the posts have really impacted my life. As you probably have already seen in my prayer requests, the past two months have been a very bumpy ride for us. This web site has been the one thing that gets me back on track spiritually, gets me back in His Word, gets me praying again for everyone. Each of the chapters that we're studying have helped me look at the past two months not as something negative and impossible, but has helped me be able to find what God needs for me to get out of each of the situations. It wasn't easy but I can tell you that without this site and all of you, I don't think I would be functioning right now. I would be so consumed with the "why me? why is everything bad happening all at once?" But through your comments, blog posts, prayers and Stormie's wonderful book, I see way more positive going on in my life than negative. It's amazing how God has put each of you here just at the time where I needed it in my life.

I have another praise report to share! Since Matthew was scoped a few weeks ago, we've gotten the results and learned that he has a condition called eosinophilic esophagitus. We've begun treating it with medication and the best thing is he is now consistently sleeping through the night again!

In addition to the medical issues I've shared about, we are also in the process of getting Matthew preschool special education services through our public school system. This morning was his full evaluation. The first thing I am thankful for is that the team was so responsive and cautious regarding his severe food allergies. They had to start a few minutes late because they had washed all of the toys and surfaces in the eval room special for him. I'm not used to people who don't deal with this on a daily basis being as careful as I am so this really impressed me. They are also sending a nurse to our home to talk with me about his allergies and medical concerns prior to his IEP and him starting school.

My little guy worked and tried so hard on all the tasks and the team just interacted really well with him (and me too). I feel like they were able to get a really good picture of his strengths and needs and will come back with an accurate and helpful report. Matthew blessed himself at the beginning of the evaluation, which really touched me. Also, at the end the psychologist pulled me aside and gave me some wonderful encouragement about my efforts with Matthew, which I REALLY appreciated!

Thanks so much to God for all of the blessing this morning and to everyone who has faithfully prayed over this with me!

I came across this hymn and I thought it was very fitting for our situations so I wanted to share....

Not now, but in the coming years

Not now, but in the coming years,
It may be when with Christ we stand,
We'll read the meaning of our tears,
And there, sometime, we'll understand

Then trust in God through all thy days;
Fear not, for He doth hold thy hand;
Though dark thy way, still sing and praise,
Sometime,sometime,we'll understand.

We'll catch the broken thread again,
And finish what we here began;
God will the mysteries explain,
And then, ah, then, we'll understand.

We'll know why clouds instead of sun
Were over many a cherished plan;
Why song has ceased when scarce begun;
'Tis then, sometime, we'll understand.

Why what we long for most of all,
Eludes so oft our eager hand;
Why hopes are crushed and castles fall,
Till then, sometime, we'll understand.

God knows the way, He holds the key,
He guides us with unerring hand;
Sometime with tearless eyes we'll see;
Yes,then,'tis then, we'll understand.

I wanted to update everyone on my recent prayer request. Matthew's levels at the allergist: a bit unexpected/not sure what to make of it but I'm choosing to praise anyway. His peanut levels were still the same, sesame went down signifigantly, egg rose slightly. The fact that the egg went up a little was not what I was hoping for (it has gone down the past two years straight)but my understanding is that the levels can fluctuate a little without it meaning that he won't outgrow it eventually. Furthermore, God has authority over all of these levels and He is the one in control.

I would also like to praise God that Matthew hasn't had to have any benadryl at school the past two weeks (We were having 1-3 reactions per week sometimes two in one session) Since the allergist told us that he likely has dermographia, we can wait and see and now enjoy the possibility that he may not be having allergic reactions as much as we thought. This has been a blessing and I am grateful!

Thanks so much for praying over this with me!

I have some HUGE praise reports to share!

First, a friend contacted me yesterday to let me know that her RDI consultant (who I've been looking into working with) needed a family to do a communication study with. Apparently the original family had to back out at the last minute and she needed to fill the spot very quickly. I have been studying and praying about this for many months and was waiting for God to move and show me which direction to take. This is a wonderful opportunity for our family to receive training, support and consultation at no cost to us- WOW!

Second, my husband (whose job is like most subject to this economy but thankfully under God's economy) found out yesterday that he will be getting a raise and a bonus. (We've honestly been just very grateful that he still has a job, were not expecting this!)

Third, I got a packet from CFCA that we were able to sponsor a 4 year old girl in Costa Rica with autism, asthma, adenoid problems and facial paralysis. We currently sponsor an 8 year old girl in Guatemala and when I found out they also help special children I HAD to request one. This decision came out of a very difficult day with Matthew a few weeks ago where I felt like nothing I did was helping him. It made me feel better then to feel like I could do something concrete to make a difference for someone. I was SO happy and just filled with joy when I got this sweet little girl's picture and info in the mail! Matthew has several of the same issues and I know I can pray for this mom in a very special way!

Praise God!!!! He is so AMAZING!!! I have to say with everything we have struggled with God has opened the most amazing doors for us that only He could.
