I guess I'll be the first with a prayer request....Thanks for praying over this with me!

We are searching for a school shadow for our son for a local Montessori school. Please pray that God brings us the person Sean needs in his life right now and that we realize that this is who God intends for us to hire!

Thanks!

Nicole, I will definitely keep you and Sean in prayer in this situation with a prospective shadow. Thanks for sharing this.

I'd also like to share a prayer request. Right now my son with autism is struggling with inflammation that impacts him neurologically as well as other health issues. We are going to be seeing a pediatric gastroenterologist next week to schedule an upper and lower GI endoscopy and begin to address how this impacts his inflammation overall.

Please pray that God imparts his wisdom to this doctor and that this entire process be productive as we work together toward improving Matthew's health and well-being

We are truly at the end of our rope. We have 3 year old triplets, 2 with autism, and I am so wrung out. We need a break. We need healing. We need help. Sorry to be so vague. I am just suffocating in my own life. Our blog:www.hallsblog.blogspot.com

Hi,

Thank you for starting this prayer request line. We can never have too much prayer for our kids. My name is Eva and I have an 8 yr old son with autism. His name is Samuel. He is currently mainstreamed in school but is struggling socially. He has tried to make friends but is often rejected. He is a shy and timid little guy and the rejection keeps him from trying much anymore. Please pray that God brings him a friend someday at school who will accept him just the way he is. Also, we are thinking about enrolling him in a program called Learning Rx which is supposed to improve his cognitive skills. He is going to be assessed next wed. Please pray that the assessment is an accurate reflection of his weaknesses. Also, pray God will give us wisdom as to whether to proceed with this program or not. It is very expensive and we don't want to waste our money.

Thanks,
Eva

Sunny and Eva, your families will be kept in prayer. We all need God's wisdom, discernment and opportunities to make the best choices for our children and our families. Welcome and blessings to you both.

I know for alot of us sometimes remember to pray doesn't come easy. Try to set aside some time during your day to pray over all of these prayer requests. Whether it's in the car, in the shower, before you go to bed, if you're lucky enough that your kids still nap...during naptime, whatever is the easiest for you to remember to lift up these prayers. I think the most important thing to know is that we're all there. We all have children who are on the spectrum. Let's really lean on each other and help each other up when we need it the most.
Sunny, I pray that this study helps you and renews your spirit to stay strong for yourself, your family and for God. (I have twin boys, one with autism. I'd love to talk to you more about multiples and autism. It's tough. Feel free to email me ncollins2@nc.rr.com)
Eva, I pray that God will show you loud and clear the right path to take for your son! Thank you both for being so open to share your prayers with us!
God is good and I see how he's helping us all out already.

Nicole and Jessica,

I have already lifted your little guys(Matthew and Sean) in prayer. Please keep us posted on what happens in your situations. Sunny, I will definitely be praying for you. It is a tough journey, I have started going through the scriptures that deal with some of my son's issues such as (anxiety,etc...) and every night I have been praying these scriptures over him. God promises that his word will not come back to him void but will accomplish it purpose. Just a suggestion.....

Take care,
Eva

Will pray for you all; I know I always have to remember the poem Footprints when I am at my lowest; for God surely carries me then.

Hi,
this is Eva again. My son Samuel started the Learning Rx program yesterday. It's supposed to improve his cognitive skills. He seemed to like it but it definitely puts added pressure on him because its every day and we don't get home till 5:00 and then he has to do homework. Please pray that he can handle it through the end of school and that this program really helps his brain to work better. Those of you who are living in the Raleigh/Cary area, are you interested in starting a playgroup for the summer? My child is 8 and I would love to be a part of playgroup with like minded Mom's. If you would like to contact me about this, my e-mail is ilandgirl@att.net

Take care,
Eva

Eva, thanks for this update. I just said a special prayer for Samuel. Hope that this is a wonderful help to his cognitive skills and praying for you both.

This is kind or ironic, I was planning on posting a prayer request today for Matthew's upper GI scope/colonoscopy scheduled for next Friday. I just got a call from the Dr's office that there was a scheduling error and now the procedure won't be until 5/23. Everyone at my prayer group last night prayed over me (on Matthew's behalf) since this would be the last meeting I'd make it to before the scope and I felt such peace.

I realize this is God putting this on hold/making this change and it will be for Matthew's good. The human part of me is disappointed that we have to wait that much longer for the results, and wants to have some answers.

So, apparently this is in God's hands and let's pray that I have the strength and faith to keep it there! :)

Thanks!

Please pray over our family. We seem to be getting in every direction. Sean, my son with autism, is having a pretty rough week. Then, today he fell and hurt his foot. We think he may have just twisted it because it's not swollen but he's not walking on it.
Also, pray over me. I feel like I'm trying to find something to worry about. If it's not my kids or my husband, then it's my hypochondriac self staring at a new mole that I just happen to find looks a little strange. (I always have a hard time letting totally go. I feel like I should be worrying/googling something.) It's been a tough week in the Collins house. We could use some prayers.
Please pray that my mind not be filled with nonsense so that I can hear from Him instaed of worrying.
Thanks so much!
Nicole

Nicole, what a week you've had. I just said a prayer that God send his Holy Spirit to give us peace keep us both from being overwhelmed with worries and doubts. I think this is just a by-product of overload and lucky for us this doesn't happen to God! Will definitely keep you all in prayer, give Sean (and yourself) an extra hug.

I have an IEP meeting tomorrow morning and I'm very anxious about it. Jake will be starting Kindergarten next year and I believe he would do well in a typical class with assistance. The school is onboard with the class placement, but they are resistant to providing the necessary assistance. I feel like I am gearing up for battle. I'd appreciate your prayers about this situation. I'm praying for peace and calm as I approach this meeting and the wisdom to know how to handle the obstacles in our path. Thank you!

Jessica said...

Chrissy, thanks for letting us know. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow. When I go into these types of meetings it helps me to visually picture Jesus walking in with me (may sound crazy, works for me), helps me to know I'm not alone & He is preparing the way. Will pray, for peace, calm, wisdom & openness as you hopefully pull together as a team for Jake. Let us know how it goes!

This week (Friday morning) we are bringing Matthew to a specialist 3 1/2 hours away so that he can have an upper GI endoscopy and a colonoscopy. Matthew's had difficulty with digestion, stomach pain and possible damage from the severe food allergies. Please join us in praying for a safe trip, smooth procedure, comfortable child and helpful results. I'm praying that God's hands guide the doctor and His wisdom and will are imparted in the results. Thanks so much.

By the way, Spectrum Spirit mommies, I haven't forgotten you! I remember your intentions in my prayers and just wanted you to know that! :)

Hi, We met today with the school to review our son's IEP and discuss his issues with social communication. We are asking the school to provide video ABA therapy as part of their work with him. They are arranging to do a home review, etc and then get back to us with their recommendations. We are praying for God's wisdom with regard to what would be best for him and favor with the school system; that we wouldnt have to fight hard to get what he needs. Please pray with us for him, his name is David. Thanks!

Jessica said...

Will definitely say a prayer for this situation for David! I'll add prayers for your family and the team members doing the review, for you to have the peace and wisdom you need and for the team members to be moved by God.

Please pray over Sean. He has had lots of changes lately and is getting ready to have more. We are losing our in home therapist because she got a promotion at work. (So we're searching for a new one.) Then, we had to let our new shadow go that works with him at school. (Again, searching for a new one.) He's started a new behavior that I believe we have under control now. He's biting me when he cant' have his way. Which is very emotionally draining for me. Please pray that God will bring the right people into Sean's life to help him. Pray that God will show me how to help Sean past this biting stage. Pray that God gives me tough skin, literally, as I help Sean through this difficult time.
Thanks!

I don't know about anyone else, but with summer fast upon us I am beginning to feel the stress. Who will I keep them engaged enough, how will I keep them on their "schedule", will the help I've arranged for when I'm working work out, how in the world will I get the dishes done? etc. I'm probably not alone feeling this way, so I'll be praying for those of you and please pray for me!

Jessica said...

Thanks for that reminder, Melissa, I'll definitely pray for you! Summer is a mixture of relief and stress for me. Relief because it means significantly less driving, but stress because we also have to keep the "schedule" while using the valuable time to work with both boys and get them ready for next year's demands. Thanks for your prayers!

I need to post a prayer request, this time for myself. Yesterday was Matthew's first IEP meeting, and despite all my best efforts it pretty much went wrong in every way I would have hoped not to. By the end I was in tears and am still in a great deal of pain over it. I need prayers for some emotional healing as well as direction for developing the best plan for Matthew. I know that everything happens for a reason and that God is still there in all of this. Thank you so much.

I have a prayer request. Our family is traveling to Florida tomorrow to see a doctor for our son with autism. Please pray for safe travels, that our son coorperates at the doctors office (he'll be going through some long tests), pray for the doctors to have the wisdom they need to help our son, and most importantly pray that the doctors as well as myself and my husband have a clear line of communication with God so that we can clearly hear Him and what He needs us to learn through this as well as what our next steps need to be.
Thank you!
Nicole

Hello friends, I have a prayer request that I'd like to share. This week was Matthew's annual appointment with his allergist. At this appointment it was revealed that in some cases what we may think are allergic reactions may in fact be another condition called dermographia. It has weighed on us heavily, as he's been having 1-3 allergic reactions per week for the past few months. We are to document reactions with detail over the next few months and then report back to the allergist. Also, his blood was drawn to test his IgE levels for peanut, eggs, sesame, salmon, shrimp and cod. Please pray over these levels with me, that they continue to go down and his severe allergies are healed. Thank you so much.

Praying for you Jessica! Hope all went well.

I'd love for you all to keep my husband and I in your prayers. We are in the process of deciding whether we want to switch programs with Sean. We have been doing Verbal Behavior for about 4 years now. We're thinking about switching to RDI.

Please pray that God gives us a clear mind on which way to go!
Thank you so much!

Hi, I'm hoping to become involved with the next study. I joined last year but then got sidetracked. :) Anyways, I wanted to ask for some prayers. This next month is going to be stressful. We have an appt. for Joshua next week with Southeast Family Services for a consultation. I'm not sure why I made the appt. or what I'm looking for. I guess I feel like there is a piece missing in our network of support. Anyways, we have to pay out of pocket for this and like I said I'm not sure what I'm searching for. We already have the autism diagnosis/PDD-NOS more specifically and we have wake county preschool services providing therapy.

Also, we have Joshua's IEP meeting in two weeks. He will be transitioning out of preschool services into Kindergarten and I'm scared and overwhelmed and hopeful and emotional ;). I am angry because he doesn't seem ready for Kindergarten. He will be a young five and I wish he could be held back a year but they won't let us without giving up services. I pray that I can finally let go of the anger on that issue and focus on the greater issue at hand that he is starting Kindergarten and help with figuring out what is best for him. I wear my emotions on my sleeve and I want to be strong in the IEP meeting but I start to cry so easily when I talk about Joshua. So Pray for me to be able to focus on the task at hand and to keep my emotions at bay.

Jessica said...

Sherri,

You and Joshua are in my prayers. I know how hard these meetings can be and how hard it can be to let go when we don't understand the outcome. I will pray for God's peace and strength to be with you as you go about this process.
